Sometimes Hump Day calls for a true cocktail experience. If you’re looking for deliciously crafted, high-quality cocktails, few places in New York are better than Silver Lining. The Tribeca cocktail bar likes to keep its focus on the classics–your martinis, your Manhattans. We celebrated our Hump Day this week with some delicious takes on a couple of great classics.

The Pan American Clipper has lime, grenadine and Applejack served up in an Absinthe-rinsed coupe. (Hear all those fancy words?)

Our next adult beverage was the Prescription Julep–rye, cognac, Jamican rum, mint and sugar over crushed ice. Both drinks were great and had more than a bit of a kick…if you’re into that kind of thing. (We’re very into that kind of thing.)

If you’re on the indecisive side or want to be a bit adventurous, just tell the Silver Lining bartenders what you like–type of spirit, sweet or spicy, etc–and they’ll mix up some specific to your taste.

Oh yes, we have a special guest appearance this week from our friend Resham! She is turning her love of chai into a book about the chai wallahs of India. In the meantime, you can check out her great blog and follow her on Twitter for great chai and tea related news and tips.

We hope you guys are getting bottled on this lovely Hump Day and make sure to schedule a trip down to Silver Lining. It’ll be more than worth it. Happy Hump Day!

Is it just us or did it feel like Wednesday took forever to get here? Thank Beyonce it is finally Hump Day and we can celebrate at Shoolbred’s in the East Village.

One of our favorite things about Shooldbred’s is the fact that they use fresh fruit juice in their cocktails and prove it to you by extracting the juice right in front of you. Both of our cocktails this week feature this fresh grapefruit juice.

If you’re willing to get your Martha Stewart on and bust out your juicer, you can whip up your own Greyhound by mixing grapefruit juice and whatever amount of vodka you deem necessary to get through the rest of the week.

Because we can never pass up a margarita when offered, we also had Bob’s Cayenne Margarita which has more fresh grapefruit juice, tequila blanco, triple sec and cayenne.

Shooldbred’s has a Scottish theme that we were trying to figure out. As you can see, we kind of got stuck at the mirrors.

We hope you guys are getting bottled this Hump Day and if you’re in the area, make sure to swing by Shooldbred’s and try out the great drinks we had!

We were in the mood for a vacation on this lovely Hump Day and decided to make a stop at Kingston Hall for some tropical R&R.

kingston hall

Kingston Hall brings a sixties-Jamaica vibe to the East Village along with delcious cocktails using fresh fruits and juices. If you make the trip, it is imperative that your order our favorite drink: the Drunken Coconut.

drunken coconut kingston hall

Yes, that is an actual coconut our cocktail is floating sitting in. With Appleton Gold Rum, Malibu, fresh coconut water (duh) and pineapple juice, the Drunken Coconut is easily one of our favorite Hump Day treats and definitely the most original cocktail we’ve had in awhile. Sip on this and pretend you’re lounging on the beach or in your bed watching a Real Housewives marathon–we all have our version of paradise.

When you visit Kingston Hall make sure to take time to wander through the different rooms which are full of interesting patterns and details that really capture the island theme.

A trip to Jamaica (kinda) obviously requires a serving of rum punch. Kingston Hall puts a spin on this classic with Appleton Light Rum, Malibu and fresh orange and pineapple juice.

Shir made a new friend and we found one of our new favorite spots in the neighborhood. AND, they even have happy hour! Everything is perfect.

We may be New Yorkers but we can definitely appreciate a little bit of southern charm every now and then, which is why we celebrated our Hump Day at the Ninth Ward in the East Village.

Ninth Ward

This New Orleans-inspired bar slowed us down for some delicious, leisurely cocktails. The Ninth Ward specializes in twists on some traditional favorites like the Hurricane and Mint Julup. Our favorite is their Porch-Side lemonade that includes the addition of gin and basil syrup to a summer staple.

It’s also worth noting that you can always trust a bar that has its priorities painted on the doors.

The Ninth Ward also has a super cute open patio in the back, giving you a nice southern oasis in the middle of the East Village. We can’t wait to go back and we definitely suggest you plan a visit if you’re in the area or recreate their revved up version of lemonade if you’re not.

As always, makes sure to like us on Facebook and let us know how you’re enjoying your Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day! Can you guys feel/smell/taste that? It’s spring heading towards us and along with it, warm weather and the lovely pastime of outside drinking. If that doesn’t put you in the mood for happy hour we don’t know what to tell you. Mother Nature gave us an amazing day in New York yesterday so we’d like to indulge you with something equally sweet (WINK WINK WINK) with some candied-up booze.

Mercer’s Dairy Wine Ice Cream

Yes, wine ice cream is a thing because someone somewhere loves us deeply. Mercer’s Wine Ice Cream is exactly what you think it is, only better. What could possibly be better than Red Raspberry Chardonnay ice cream? No seriously, what could be better than that? Maybe the Cherry Merlot is more your style? Either way, wine ice cream is everyone’s style.

Twice The Vice Spirited Chocolate

We maaaay have mentioned our love for margaritas once or twice. Have you ever had margarita encased in chocolate? We have and it’s amazing. If you’re more of a cosmopolitan guy (or gal) Twice The Vice has you covered with a whole line of cocktail-themed chocolates.

If you really want to make your sweet tooth as happy as your Hump Day, pop a bottle of ChocVio–a blend of Dutch dark chocolate and red wine. If you’re fancy and talented in the kitchen (AKA not us) you can even use ChocoVino to make some delicious sweet cocktails.

Get your sugar-high Hump Day on with some of our favorite sweet treats and let us know how you’re celebrating!

Another week, another Hump Day and more importantly, another Hump Day cocktail. If Cheers taught us anything (or at least what we’ve heard) sometimes, it’s nice to relax at a place that’s warm and familiar. The Tippler is one of our favorite places to grab a drink and is a great option if you’re looking to avoid a little bit of the Meatpacking District insanity.

Step down into the basement of Chelsea Market… perhaps read a book or two. (Haha jk jk it’s Hump Day–just have a drink.)

the tippler

We were so lucky to partake in the Long-Eared Galoot which contains bourbon, cinnamon, strawberry, lemon and cayenne–a combination that confused us a bit at first but proved to be really delicious and refreshing.

The Tippler also features a daily lushie–a frozen blended cocktail. We got a little dangerous with a mint Absinthe lushie.

Frozen drinks remind us that summer is riiiight around the corner and there’s no Hump Day like a summertime Hump Day.

We hope you guys are having a wonderful Hump Day and are celebrating with a cocktail at The Tippler or one of your own. Let us know on the  Twitter or Facebook what you’re drinking on this lovely Hump Day and make sure to check out our Instagram for more great shots from The Tippler.
